Round Top Communications & Consulting is based in the northern Catskills and works with clients throughout the Catskills, Hudson Valley, and Capital Region. Launched in 2019 by Julia Joern, this boutique office provides strategic and integrated services in marketing, promotion, public relations, social media, and editorial content for creative individuals, cultural organizations, and independent businesses.

She also conducts workshops that teach small and independently-owned businesses ways to enhance their own marketing initiatives.

About Julia Joern

Julia was until 2017 a Partner at David Zwirner, a contemporary art gallery — considered one of the most influential in the world — where for close to a decade she oversaw a team responsible for international marketing, press campaigns, events, and selective philanthropic projects. Prior to that she worked at Phaidon Press (New York and London), Bruce Mau Design (Toronto), The Monacelli Press (New York), and Rizzoli (New York). With a background in architecture and design, she had a range of diverse professional experiences during her 25-year career, which also spanned the visual arts, photojournalism, and book publishing.

In addition to Round Top Communications & Consulting, Julia recently founded a separate stand-alone business, Round Top Productions, a special events company producing private and public programs in the visual, literary, and culinary arts. In 2023, Round Top Productions opened a brick-and-mortar space — in a building shared with her restaurant and events space, Julia’s Local — in Round Top, a tiny hamlet located in Greene County in the northern Catskills.

She has been on the Board of Trustees of Aperture Foundation, Triple Canopy, Radius Books, and Center for Photography at Woodstock.

She is the host of ‘Hudson Valley Word of Mouth,’ a radio show on WGXC/Wave Farm featuring interviews with creative entrepreneurs throughout the Catskills, Hudson Valley, Capital region, and beyond. She also volunteers at the Phoenix Web Collective, a non-profit ‘free community store’ run by artists in Hunter, New York.
